The Pink Storey
This house design is characterized by its play of volumes, form, massing, and materiality. The unique shape of the land, with two street-facing sides, called for a design that is at ease with seeing and being seen from all sides, as well as from the inside to the outside.
The stand out element of this house is definitely this tower of red stone frames by concrete. The bands of textured stone break the continuity and lend an element of earthiness.
The cantilevered balcony juts over onto the pool, acting as a viewing deck over the water body, from where one can appreciate the ambiance of the backyard with the pool.
The motifs engraved in the wall add to the unique identity of the house.
A modern mass with traditional detailing and contrasting materials make this project a special one. The design perfectly complements the local social context of the town as well as make it a home for the multi-generational family cohabiting the space.
All spaces spread across the two floors overlook the landscape, which is woven in an around the house. Bright use colours of nature in the landscape contrasts with greys of cement and the warmth of pink sandstone.
